This Coffee Rub Prime Rib recipe combines the rich flavors of coffee, spices, and prime rib for a decadent and flavorful main dish. The coffee adds depth and richness to the beef, while the spices create a perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and savory notes.
Ingredients:
- 1 prime rib roast about 5 pounds
- 1/4 cup finely ground coffee beans
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 450F 230C
In a small bowl, mix together ground coffee, brown sugar, smoked paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to create the rub
Rub the mixture generously all over the prime rib roast
Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, fat side up
Roast for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325F 160C
Continue roasting until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the roast registers your desired doneness about 2 hours for medium-rare
Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing
